1. General Restoration Disclaimer

Repair is not a replacement for the original manufacturing process. It is intended to extend the longevity and usability of a garment but is not a guaranteed permanent solution. Your knitwear will undergo processes that differ from its original construction. As such, it will not retain its exact original finish, texture, or structure. Variations in colour, texture, and finish are normal and expected outcomes of repair work.

2. Colour Matching & Appearance

  • Colour will be matched as closely as possible to the original.

  • Exact colour matching cannot be guaranteed.

  • Natural fibres (such as wool, cashmere, or blends) may have tonal variation, which can make precise matching more difficult.

  • Different lighting conditions (e.g. daylight vs electric lighting) will affect colour perception.

  • Digital images provided as references may vary from screen to screen and cannot be relied upon for exact colour accuracy.

  • Repaired areas (including darning or patching) may remain slightly visible, particularly on fine gauge or smooth knits.

  • The repaired area may appear slightly more textured, raised, or matte compared to the surrounding fabric.

3. Texture & Material Changes

  • The texture of repaired areas may differ slightly from the original knit.

  • Repaired sections may feel firmer, thicker, or less elastic than surrounding areas.

  • Washing and repair processes may alter the softness or drape of the garment.

  • Natural fibres may felt, relax, or shift slightly during cleaning or repair.

  • Pilling may still occur over time, including in repaired areas.

4. Stitching, Darning & Reconstruction

  • Darning and reweaving aim to stabilise and restore damaged areas but may not fully recreate the original knit structure.

  • Stitch patterns may differ slightly from the original, depending on the damage and technique used.

  • Repairs are designed to be as discreet as possible, but will not be invisible.

  • Heavily damaged areas may require reinforcement, which can result in visible or textured repairs.

5. Structural Wear & Longevity

  • Knitwear is naturally prone to stretching, thinning, and wear over time.

  • Areas under strain (e.g. elbows, cuffs, underarms) may continue to weaken or wear after repair.

  • There is no permanent solution for high-friction or high-stretch areas.

  • Repairs may require future maintenance depending on wear and usage.

6. Acknowledgement of Natural Wear

By proceeding with repair, you acknowledge:

Materials that stretch, move, or wear will continue to do so.

Repair cannot prevent future natural wear or damage.

Results will vary depending on the garment’s age, condition, fibre composition, and knit structure.
